Casa La Banda was born in Mexico City, serving as a shelter for refugees and the LGBTQI+ community. Casa La Banda houses two semi-permanent caretakers and a rotating cast of LGBTQI+ migrants and guests from around the world, serving as a point of connection for international LGBTQI+ travelers to meet up and volunteer. Apart from basic shelter needs, it also functions as a community center and resource for the local LGBTQI+ community. They also network, assist, and volunteer with other organizations and groups in Mexico that serve related purposes to their mission.
