Queer Sex Workers Initiative for Refugees
QWSIR makes efforts to give queer sex workers a dignified social identity, and to ensure good health and well being of LGBTQIA+ sex workers in Nairobi, Kenya. We aim to evolve healthy living among queer sex workers and developing safe sex habits. To recognize sex work as work, promoting a stigma and discrimination-free environment for queer sex workers. We also provide sustainable social & economic empowerment activities, hands-on skills, talent enhancement, and general peer education through workshops and outreaches. We provide emergency shelter and safe housing for LGBTQIA+ sex worker refugees who are at risk and victims of violence. We promote self awareness & communal sensitization to advocate for and promote equality.
